Qualifications for Leadership
When evaluating a candidate, stop looking at their “charisma.” Look at their character and their submission to God’s Law.
1. The Character Test (Exodus 18:21)
“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness.”
- Does he fear God? Does he acknowledge Christ as Lord, or is he a prideful humanist?
- Is he a man of truth? Does he speak with clarity, or does he pivot and deceive?
- Does he hate covetousness? Does he seek the office for gain, or for the defense of the nation?
2. The Justice Test (Proverbs 31:8-9)
“Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.”
- Does he protect the innocent? A candidate who supports the shedding of innocent blood (abortion) is disqualified. No exceptions.
- Does he prioritize his own people? A ruler who ignores his own nation to serve foreign interests is worse than an infidel.
3. The Marriage Test (Matthew 19:4-6)
Marriage is the fundamental unit of the nation, instituted by God at creation. A candidate who supports the redefinition of marriage is attacking the created order itself.
